Social Developments and MDGsLocalizing and mainstreaming the MDGs
SWP’s“Local Monitoring System on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG)” project was officially launched in 2005 in the Province of Bohol through the support of the European Union. It aimedto improve the capacity of local government units (LGUs) in MDG monitoring, localization and budgeting towards accelerating achievement of MDG targets.
SWP helped local governments set policies, plans, programs and budgets on the MDGs; as well as to monitor and report its status. To achieve effective results, the LGU and the citizens worked as partners. They replicated the Bohol experience in Kiangan, Ifugao in 2007; Tabaco City, Albay in 2008; and in the province of North Cotabato in 2009. SWP trained both local government areas and community leaders here to gather and analyze baseline data; and integrate the results to local plans and budgets. Back to top |
